J/22

People say the J/22 is the best sailing boat they’ve ever been on. It’s responsive, stable with a fixed lead keel and safe, as much fun to singlehand with main only as it is to plane under spinnaker in 18 knots of wind. J/22 at 1800 lbs can be towed behind an SUV and be launched with the local yacht club hoist. With its easy-to-rig, deck stepped mast, you can be from trailer to sailing in 30 minutes.

Mariner

The Mariner is a 19 foot pocket racer/cruiser that is simple to sail and competitively raced as a 2 person non-spinnaker one design class. It is a very stable, rugged, and versatile boat that can hold up to 6 adults when daysailing. With a very active class association, Mariners are raced at a number of clubs with an annual Nationals Regatta held at one of several core clubs along the East Coast. The class association also supports overnight cruising events including an annual 3 day Rendezvous cruise. First built in 1963, over 4200 boats have been produced, with older boats still prized as being the among the most competitive. It is one of the rare sailboats created during the "classic plastic" era of the 1960s and 1970s that enjoys continued production and availability of parts.

Flying Scot

The Scot is a 19 foot spinnaker boat that races with 2 or 3 crew. It is one of the 5 largest one-design classes nationally, with a strong builder and many good used boats available. It is great for both racing or daysailing, and can hold up to 8 for daysailing. Locally, there are fleets on Barnegat Bay, Stone Harbor, Avalon, Lake Nockamixon and elsewhere in the Delaware Valley.

Laser & Opti

At the Riverton Yacht Club there is a junior sailing program which is made up of a group of junior sailors that sail either Optimist Prams or Lasers and Laser Radials. Every Monday Night there are several races. The amount depends on the number of sailors and on the wind.
